Rosa Surber Projects
Rosa Surber was part of the WNP Learning Center Trek in February 2012. She has been a supporter of WNP for many years and wanted to see our Learning Center (LC) project and how WNP operates in Nicaragua. As part of the LC workshops, Rosa was teaching how to make blouses but her visit ended up to be much more than teaching that skill after she visited the Fernando Velez Paiz Hospital.

The Gotita de Amor remodeling project, sponsored by Stevens Point Rotary group, is nearing completion. The middle of this month (May 2012) they were finishing the last part of the remodeling project which was to finish the kitchen and build a new room for the security person.

This report represents the second of two visits by the author to Nicaragua, under the US-AID project with Farmer to Farmer (FTF), administered through the Partners of the Americas, Wisconsin-Nicaragua Chapter. The purpose continues to focus on observing the workings of the national potato industry and providing specific technical advice to producers and local advisers.
Commitment, Dedication and Enthusiasm are core characteristics found within the Learning Center Program participants. There is a winning combination when you mix volunteers who offer support in various ways with volunteers who are eager to learn, share their experience and become involved! Recently Lynda Pracht, a Wisconsin volunteer of 13 + years, shared her story on the nationally televised program, Sewing with Nancy.
