Passing of Lynda Pracht

Dear Friends of W/NP,

Lynda passed away Wednesday morning, and our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be available soon. She will be dearly missed by many.

Lynda Pracht took the Learning Center Program to the next level, she touched the hearts and lives of Nicaraguan women though her development of the "Chica Nica" doll dress project. The magnitude of her influence is hard to fully comprehend. Lynda coordinated the recording and gathering of over 2,000 sewing machines sent from Wisconsin to Nicaragua, she sold 478 dresses in 2012 alone, and her dedication is overwhelming when looking at her Lynda's 2012 Chica Nica Display Schedule

Simply a stellar example of how one person's passion and dedication can make extraordinary things happen. - Amy

Kaylee's Backpack Project

Kaylee and Mom

Kaylee's backpack project is in need of glue and scissors!

"Eight-year-old Kaylee Jisko is packing her bags for Nicaragua.

"The Stevens Point native and Madison Elementary School third-grader is quickly turning into the superstar of the Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners of the Americas’ Backpack Project — a humanitarian mission to collect school supplies and distribute them by backpack to Nicaraguan students and teachers."

The Stevens Point Journal definitely got a few things right in Saturday's paper. Kaylee has become the superstar of the Backpack Project and Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners. She has already donated 200 backpacks, filled with school goodies, for the children in Nicaragua.

Sarah, Kaylee's mother, says, "Our goal is to have 100 backpacks by this time next year."

McDonalds Donates to Nicaragua!

McDonalds donates furniture for Nicaragua prior to pending demolition as a gesture of humanitarian support. W/NP Volunteers remove fixtures for shipment to Nicaragua the following morning after the restaurant closed. The Division Street McDonald’s is scheduled for demolition after May 16th to make way for a new facility adjacent to the present site. Years ago Burger King made a similar donation upon closure and the seats are currently being used in Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners Learning Centers, Lending Libraries and homes of people who are most appreciative of Wisconsin’s compassionate effort to help others in need.
